Baseball Support Staff


CHRIS GOUDORAS
Director of Analytics

Chris Goudoras, a former staff member of the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets organizations, joined the Ole Miss baseball program as Coordinator of Operations – Internal Affairs in January 2018.

Goudoras, a native of New York, comes to Oxford from the professional ranks where he most recently spent the 2017 season as a TrackMan intern with the Phillies. He also simultaneously served as a Senior Video Scout for Baseball Info Solutions. With the Phillies, he was responsible for operating TrackMan for all Reading Fightin’ Phils home games, as well as assisting the coaching staff with day-to-day analysis and improvement through quantifiable data.

At Baseball Info Solutions, where he also worked in 2016 as a video scout, Goudoras worked extensively with the use of video in the anaylsis of players. While with the company, he completed next-day checks of data collected during live games, trained and evaluated first-year scouts, and oversaw accuracy of pitch-charting data using video and pitch f/x. The Long Island native also assisted in the production of the 2018 Bill James Handbook, one of the league’s most thorough and comprehensive statistics book on every major league player, team and manager.

Prior to 2017, he interned twice separately in the New York Mets organization, once with the Brooklyn Cyclones and another with the Binghamton Mets, while at the same time achieving a degree in Economics-Finance at Bentley University, where he graduated in 2015.

With the Mets, Goudoras worked in-depth with the use of video, including videotaping whole games, and editing it for use by the front office.

SAM SLAVIK
Director of Operations

Sam Slavik joined the Ole Miss baseball staff in August 2020 as the Coordinator of Operations - External Affairs.

Slavik spent seven seasons as an assistant coach at Ohio Northern. Prior to that, Slavik served two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Cincinnati.

A native of Coldwater, Ohio, Slavik helped guide Ohio Northern to winning seasons in each of his last six full campaigns. The Polar Bears were out to a 5-5 record before the 2020 season was cut short. In 2018, Slavik helped coach ONU to its first Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament berth in 18 seasons and followed that up in 2019 with the program’s first back-to-back OAC Tournament appearances since 1999-2000. The Polar Bears also set a school record with 80 wins in a three-year span from 2017-19.

As the team’s pitching coach, Slavik helped guide closer T.J. Storer to All-American seasons in 2016 and 2017. Storer led the country with 14 saves in 2017, setting program records in single-season and career saves. In 2018, Slavik helped coached Josh Mohr to First-Team All-OAC honors.

Slavik also has extensive coaching and front office experience in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League, beginning in 2013 as the pitching coach for the Lima Locos. He then served as the assistant general manager and head coach of the Grand Lake Mariners from 2014 through 2015.

Prior to his stint at Ohio Northern, Slavik spent two seasons as the volunteer assistant coach for Cincinnati, helping with the pitching staff as well as operations for the program.

A native of Coldwater, Ohio, Slavik was a member of the Cincinnati baseball team from 2008 through 2011. Slavik made 41 career appearances for the Bearcats pitching staff, including two starts. He closed his career with a 6-1 record, 4.37 ERA, 61 strikeouts and 24 walks allowed through 74.1 innings of action. He was a three-time Big East All-Academic Team honoree.

Slavik is joined in Oxford by his wife, Allie, and their son, Zane.

JOSHUA PORTER
Senior Athletic Trainer

Josh Porter, MS, ATC is a senior athletic trainer who primarily works with the baseball team while also overseeing athletic trainers for the men’s tennis and softball teams.

Porter joined the staff as an assistant athletic trainer in January 2013. Prior to coming to Ole Miss, Porter spent four seasons (2008-2012) at Appalachian State as the associate head athletic trainer. He worked primarily with baseball and supervised the men's soccer and volleyball intern athletic trainers.

Throughout his career, Porter has coordinated the rehabilitation of numerous athletes who have gone on to play professional baseball. He is a published author on a book regarding baseball arm care, titled Prevention and Rehabilitation Exercises for the Baseball Player.

Porter earned his bachelor’s of science in exercise science and master of science in athletic training degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. During his time at UNCG, he worked with baseball, softball, wrestling, cross country, and served as the student rehab coordinator.

A native of Corinth, Mississippi, Porter is a board certified athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and has certification in CPR/AED and first aid.

Porter and his wife, Alice, live in Oxford with their two children, Makenzie and Camryn.

ZACH BOONE
Assistant Coordinator of Strength & Conditioning

Zach Boone, formerly at Illinois, Florida and West Virginia, joined the Ole Miss strength and conditioning staff in August 2017 and will work primarly with the Rebel Baseball program.

“We are so excited to have Coach Boone as part of our staff,” baseball head coach Mike Bianco said. “Everywhere he has been in his career they have raved about him. I know our players can't wait to get to work with him.”

Boone, a native of Fairmont, West Virginia, joins the program after a three-year stint at Illinois, where he was a part of the Big 10 Championship team that went 50-10 an route to hosting an NCAA Super Regional. He also worked alongside two MLB Draft First Round selections and had 11 overall picks in his three seasons with the Illini. His time in Champaign also included working with the softball program, where he helped lead the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017.

Prior to Illinois, Boone was a member of the staff at Florida, where he assisted with the 2014 SEC Champion baseball team. His time in Gainesville also included two more championship runs with softball, as the Gators claimed the 2013 SEC Championship in 2013, and hoisted the national championship trophy in 2014.

Boone attended West Virginia University, where he earned his B.S. in Physical Education/Teacher Education (2011), and his M.S. in Athletic Coaching Education (2013). He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He also holds PES, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.

Boone is joined in Oxford by his fiancée, Jess Goeller.
